Remember those magic 8-balls? I often wondered if they were weighted, the same answers always seemed to come up. This month’s theme on loopdeloop.org is “fortune”. I actually started working on this concept a few months back, for the “ritual” theme, but decided to go with a different idea for that one, will post that up soon. Here’s an earlier stage of the 8 ball gif:
Finally got together a post on another fun project, totally separate from my film (but still full of monsters, surprise, surprise! :)) Nick and I collaborated on this for FableVision’s 2014 Creative Juices “Glow in the Dark” Art show (I had interned at FableVision the previous spring, worked on lots of awesome little animation projects while I was there). I cut out paper monsters and arranged them in layers in a…
Super excited that my film, “The Search for the Monster of Lake Quannapowitt” won Best Animation for Kids at Animation Block Party 2015! To celebrate, I’ve posted it online and updated my website with a new page for info on the film. Hope you enjoy!
“The Search for the Monster of Lake Quannapowitt” was accepted into the Animation Block Party festival this year! It’s playing during the Kids Animation session Saturday, August 1st @ 2pm, at the BAMcinématek in Brooklyn. I wish we could go – we’ll be out of the country… but if you make it to the screening, say hi to my mom :)!
Quick post – I colored my “monster empathy” loop, looking a bit more polished now!
Had so much fun working on this piece last week for loopdeloop.org – you can see it/vote for it here on their site. Be sure to check out the loops that other animators have created too – so many of them are fantastic.
If you happen to be in Athens, Greece next week, check out the international film festival debut of “The Search for the Monster of Lake Quannapowitt”! Although I won’t be able to make it there in person, I made sure to send a representative :).
On Wednesday, December 17th, I passed my final thesis review!
Working from home can be a little isolating. Through online classes through Academy of Art University I’ve learned a ton about animation and illustration, but the often lackluster community aspect of sparse discussion boards and “good job!” critiques can leave me a feeling a little empty. I’ve been trying to brainstorm ways to get myself out there with other real people doing the same…
Ok! Finished roughing in the last 10 scenes of the film. Here’s four scenes just before the end of the film, will post up the final six next week. Still have tons of notes on improvements, details to add like splashes & floppy bits (ears, ponytails, etc) and of course the sound needs a good deal of work, but it feels good to have the rough animation for…
